All prices are listed in US Dollars (USD). Belize uses the Belize Dollar (BZD), which is pegged at a fixed rate of 2:1 to USD — so $50 USD is always $100 BZD. Most tour operators and businesses in San Pedro accept US dollars directly.

OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) charge tour operators 20–30% commission on every booking. When you book direct through Maya Concierge, that money stays with your guide and in the local economy. Our platform fee is just 5% — far below any OTA.

Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment processors. We never store your card details — Stripe handles all payment data with bank-level encryption.

Tours booked online require payment in full at the time of booking. This guarantees your spot and lets the operator plan ahead. For custom itineraries arranged via WhatsApp, payment arrangements can be discussed with your guide directly.

Cancellation policies vary by operator. Most tours allow free cancellation up to 48 hours before the experience. Within 48 hours, a 50–100% fee may apply. The specific policy is always shown on the booking page before you pay.

Belize is tropical — afternoon rain showers are common, especially June–November. Most water activities operate in light rain. If conditions are genuinely unsafe, operators will reschedule or refund you. Your guide will contact you by WhatsApp if there are weather concerns.

Most operators are flexible with rescheduling — just contact them directly or message Maya on WhatsApp as soon as possible. Rescheduling is usually free when done 48+ hours in advance, subject to availability.

If an operator needs to cancel (rare), you'll receive a full refund within 5–10 business days. Maya will also help you find an equivalent alternative experience at no extra cost.

Fly into Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City. From there, take a 20-minute domestic flight to San Pedro Airport (SPR) via Maya Island Air or Tropic Air — flights run hourly. Alternatively, take a water taxi from the Belize City Marine Terminal (90 minutes, ~$25 USD). Most visitors prefer the short flight — it's scenic and fast.

American Airlines, United, Delta, Southwest, and WestJet all offer non-stop or one-stop flights to BZE from major US and Canadian cities. Belize City is a hub — most US gateways have good connections. Flights from the UK typically connect through Miami or Houston.

US, Canadian, UK, EU, and most Latin American citizens do not need a visa — you get a 30-day tourist stamp on arrival (extendable). Visitors pay a $40 USD tourism departure tax when leaving. Always check your country's latest entry requirements before travel.

San Pedro is a small island — you can walk or bike most of it. Golf carts are the primary transport (rent from ~$60/day). Taxis are cheap ($3–5 within town). Water taxis serve the north and south lagoon. There are no cars in the traditional sense on Ambergris Caye.

The dry season runs November–April — clear skies, light winds, perfect diving and snorkeling visibility. Peak season is December–March. The 'green season' (May–October) has more rain but fewer tourists, lower prices, and lush jungle. Hurricane season is officially June–November but direct hits are rare. The Belize Barrier Reef is spectacular year-round.

The Caribbean Sea around San Pedro stays between 79–86°F (26–30°C) year-round. No wetsuit required — a rash guard is plenty for most activities and also provides sun protection.

San Pedro is one of the safest destinations in Central America. The island's economy depends on tourism and the community takes visitor safety seriously. Normal travel precautions apply — don't flash valuables, use trusted operators, and stay in well-lit areas at night. The reef areas where tours operate are completely safe.

Light, breathable clothing. A rash guard and board shorts or swimsuit. Reef-safe sunscreen (regular sunscreen damages coral and is discouraged). Insect repellent. Water sandals for reef walks. A light rain jacket. US dollars in cash for small purchases. Your passport. Most lodges have laundry service, so pack lighter than you think.

Stick to bottled or filtered water in San Pedro. Tap water is treated but water quality varies. All restaurants serve safe drinking water, and bottled water is inexpensive and widely available.

Tipping is appreciated and expected in the tourism industry. 10–15% at restaurants, $5–10 USD per person for tour guides and boat captains (your guide has put in a full day — more is always welcome for exceptional service). Hotel staff: $1–2 USD per night. Your tip stays local — Maya Concierge does not take any portion of tips.

The Belize Barrier Reef is the second-largest barrier reef system in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stretching 300km along Belize's coastline, it hosts over 500 fish species, eagle rays, sea turtles, whale sharks, nurse sharks, and the famous Great Blue Hole. San Pedro sits right on the edge of it — most snorkeling spots are 15–30 minutes by boat.

Snorkeling tours are suitable for all levels including complete beginners. Guides provide full equipment and a safety briefing. If you're not comfortable in open water, tell your guide — they'll keep you near the boat and in shallower areas. Children 6+ can typically join most snorkeling tours.

ATM (Actun Tunichil Muknal) cave is physically demanding — it involves a 45-minute jungle hike, multiple river crossings, swimming, and climbing inside the cave. You need a reasonable fitness level and comfort with confined spaces. Children under 8 are not permitted. It's one of the most extraordinary experiences in all of Central America — absolutely worth it if you're able.

For popular experiences like Hol Chan snorkeling, Shark Ray Alley, or sailing charters — book at least 2–3 days ahead during peak season (Dec–April). ATM Cave tours fill up quickly and require advance booking. Last-minute? Message Maya on WhatsApp and we'll do our best to find availability.
