Our Story

Keeping Belize tourism
in Belizean hands.

Carlos paddles you out to a reef he's known since childhood. Maria walks you through a cave her grandparents never left the country to see. Then TripAdvisor takes 30 cents of every dollar you paid them.

We thought there was a better way. So we built it.

Why We Built This

The referral system already existed.
We just made it official.

Hotels on Ambergris Caye have always recommended tours to their guests. Guides have always asked front desk staff to send business their way. An informal handshake economy of 20% referral commissions has operated on this island for decades.

But with the rise of OTAs, the math stopped working. TripAdvisor, Viator, and GetYourGuide promised operators global reach — and delivered it, at 30% of every booking. Meanwhile, the hotel who actually put the guest in front of the tour operator got nothing.

Maya Concierge formalizes the informal. We've built technology that tracks referrals, automates commission payouts, and gives guests a better booking experience — while keeping 95 cents of every dollar inside Belize.

Lina Point Overwater Resort was our first hotel partner. Their physical QR coasters are already on tables across San Pedro. We started with one hotel and one phone number (+501 632-7709). The model works.

The Model

Where does your money go?

01

Guest books direct

No OTA markup. The price you see is the price the operator set — not inflated to cover a 30% platform fee.

02

80% goes to the operator

After Stripe processing, the operator receives 80% of the booking value directly to their bank account. No 30-day payment cycles. No minimum payout thresholds.

03

15% goes to the referring hotel

If a hotel or Airbnb referred the guest, they receive a 15% commission — formalizing the referral relationships that already exist informally across the island.

04

5% funds the platform

Maya Concierge takes 5% to cover payment processing, development, and operations. That's it. The rest stays in Belize.

Compare that to GetYourGuide: 30% platform fee, 14–30 day payment cycle, zero referral share to the hotel that generated the booking. The same experience, the same guide, the same reef — but the economics are completely different.

How We Operate

What we stand for.

🤝

Community First

Every design decision starts with one question: does this help local operators earn more? Platform fees are kept minimal. Marketing budget is zero — word of mouth and happy guests are our growth strategy.

🔍

Curated, Not Aggregated

We personally vet every operator before they join the platform. Licensing, safety equipment, reviews, years in business. If we wouldn't send our own family on a tour, it doesn't get listed.

💬

WhatsApp Native

WhatsApp is how Belize communicates. Maya Concierge is built around it — not as a fallback, but as the primary channel. Real people, real replies, no chatbots (the AI suggests, humans send).

🪸

Reef-Responsible

We only work with operators who use reef-safe sunscreen, follow Marine Protected Area rules, and practice no-take dive etiquette. Belize's reef is the product — protecting it is non-negotiable.
